Matamoros employees create a unique, environmentally-friendly bicycle parking space

Employees from Inteva Matamoros Plant 1 in Matamoros, Mexico recently designed a protective roof for their employee bicycle parking lot using recycled steel from the plant as well as Inteva’s recyclable Inteather™ Eco Trim material.

Inteva’s recyclable Inteather Eco Trim material balances environmental responsibility and cost effectiveness. The formulation utilizes recycled bi-laminate scrap/offal in the base layer of a cap/base construction – reducing waste by 50 percent – and is lower in cost than the material conventionally used for instrument panels, consoles and doors. But thanks to some ingenious minds in Mexico, Inteather has a new use.

“This was an initiative intended to benefit our employees,” said Carlos Sanchez, Interiors Engineering Director. “Our bicycle parking space had no cover and the bicycles would get very hot during sunny days or wet when it rained.”

Inteva won two awards in 2019 for our Inteather Eco Trim material. Inteva received third place in the Environment Category at the European Association of Automotive Suppliers (CLEPA) Innovation Awards Gala and Inteather Eco Trim was also named Sustainability Product of the Year by the Business Intelligence Group (BIG).
