Inteva Products Inspires Young People with Interactive Career Day

TROY, Mich., April 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Designed to be more than a career day, Inteva Products has over 100 children of employees participating in a fun-filled day of interactive learning and creative development set for Thursday, April 28 beginning at 9:00 a.m. and concluding at 4:00 p.m. EDT. In conjunction with the national Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work® day, Inteva is hosting young people at its headquarters in order to highlight the many exciting career paths available in the automotive supplier industry.

"Inteva Products is committed to helping young people grow and develop their skills and talents. We've organized an interactive day where children will be able to explore a variety of careers and share an important learning experience with their parents," said Tom Munley, Vice President, Human Resources.

The day begins in the Technical Center area where children will experience lab testing simulations and manufacturing demonstrations. Creative skills and talents will then be nurtured with an interactive session in the Design Studio where children will use their imagination and artistic abilities to develop the car interior of the future. In the afternoon, children will participate in interactive simulations to bring to life careers in sales, marketing, finance, IT, legal, human resources, supply chain management and quality. Many parents are actively participating in all or part of the day, depending on customer requirements.

"My two daughters are thrilled to be coming to spend a day with me at work," said Joel Honaman, Labor Relations Manager. "This is a terrific opportunity for them to see what my day is like and to begin to imagine a career in our industry."

"Parent involvement is a key to a child's educational success," added Warlene Gary, longtime children and education advocate and former National PTA CEO.  "Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is an opportunity for parents to share part of their work life with children and to show them that work is an integral part of everyone's life. This special day is also an opportunity for PTAs, schools, and communities to work together to provide a learning experience for our nation's children."
